October Haiti Happenings: Defeating Day of the Dead in Jacmel, Haiti

DEFEATING DAY OF THE DEAD
A spiritual battle is coming in Haiti

Each year on Nov 1 & 2, Haiti celebrates “Fèt Gede”, the Haitian Day of the Dead” a national holiday where voodoo practitioners will gather and parade through the streets day and night, possessed by spirits of the dead. This year, there will even be an additional day of voodoo celebration, as schools are giving Friday, Nov 3rd off as well.

Year after year, CIDM combats this evil holiday by hosting a gathering at our facility for prayer, worship, and bible teaching—and this year is no exception. With the extended holiday, we will be celebrating our freedom in Jesus and standing against the voodoo tradition for all three days of the holiday. We will end on Saturday with our normal Lavi Reyel bible club which will include a time of fellowship as the youth enjoy a special snack of homemade peanut butter (the yummiest peanut butter ever!) on bread and sodas for the 150+ youth who will be attending.

It’s our hope that many will come and celebrate the real joy of Jesus amidst the darkness of The Day of the Dead.

As we prepare for this spiritual battle, we extend an invitation for you to join us in prayer.

  • Pray for our CIDM staff as they stand against these voodoo practices and spread the hope of Jesus.
  • Pray that more people would receive Jesus during these days of spiritual deception
  • Pray that CIDM would continue to be a light amidst the spiritual darkness in Haiti, showing the power of Jesus Christ over Satan.

THANK YOU for supporting CIDM and helping make a difference in this country that desperately needs the light of Jesus!

You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16
