COVID-19 In Haiti Update #1

Covid-19 is now in Haiti, being discovered about 1 ½ weeks ago.  As of today, 15 cases are reported, with 3 cases in Jacmel!

As we all know, Haiti does not have the infrastructure to battle Covid-19 in a successful way.  However, we know God is able to keep these precious people safe and healthy.  Please pray with us that God will pour out His mercy upon Haiti and miraculously provide protection from the peril of this virus.

“God be merciful to us and bless us, that Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.”  Psalm 67:1

“You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”  Psalm 32:7

The Haitian government has closed all schools, airports, borders and public marketplaces.  The government has ordered countrywide curfews and the 6 ft social distancing (that’s suddenly become our lifestyle as well).

Even though the government has not issued a stay-at-home mandate, our CIDM staff have begun working from home.  They are reaching out to our hundreds of students with personal phone calls and texts giving them scripture, prayer, encouragement and safety instructions. Our four bible teachers are diligently using this time while not teaching to write and standardize the bible class curriculum for next year.

Our CIDM staff recently shared with us their burden for about 25 students in our discipleship club who are extremely poor.  Food and nourishment to them is literally hand to mouth.  They or their parents sell wares at the marketplace.  Their meager daily sales allow them to have the cash to purchase food for the next day.  With the marketplace now closed, there will be no sales for them to trade or purchase food.  Rather than the difficult lifestyle of eating only one meal per day, they will go days without eating any food.

Moved with compassion, our CIDM staff pulled their own cash together to purchase food so these students wouldn’t suffer from starvation in the coming weeks.  We too joined our staff’s generous hearts and committed CIDM to purchasing a much larger amount of food for even more people whose lives our ministry touches.

This past Saturday, our staff purchased $2,000 in basic food and soap.  It is being stored in our facility and will be discretely distributed in smaller portions as needed for the students, our deaf friends and other loved ones in Jacmel who are extremely poor and in desperate need.

If you’d like to be a partner in helping provide food in the weeks ahead for these needy people, please click here.  Any size of donation is much appreciated.  We know the food each person receives will make a great impact in their lives, pointing them to Christ Jesus and His care and love for them.

Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.  Deuteronomy 15:10

Scriptures to Bring Peace to All Nations In These Difficult Days

“You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You.  Trust in the Lord forever.  For in Yah, the Lord is everlasting strength”.  Isaiah 26:3

“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth”.  Col 3:2

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.  I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, the comfort me”.  Psalm 23:4

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”.  John 16:33

Our love and prayers are with you during these difficult times that He keeps you and your loved ones safe.  Surely only Jesus Christ is our refuge and salvation in whom this world so desperately needs.
