600 Bible Questions…and Lives Forever Changed

For six weeks, students from 12 Haitian high schools devoted themselves to studying 600 Bible questions and answers as part of CIDM’s annual Lavi Reyèl Bible Competition. While the competition celebrated knowledge of Scripture, its greatest purpose was much deeper—to help God’s Word take root in the hearts of Haiti’s youth.

This year, Daphca Dulce and Belandy Gressy Derosier earned First Place, representing their school with excellence, perseverance, and a growing love for God’s Word.

Celebrating a milestone!

Daphca and Belandy proudly display their school’s first-place Bible Competition award alongside their principal and vice principal. The commemorative award will remain on display throughout the school year, reminding students that God’s Word is worth pursuing.

We invited these remarkable young women to share what the competition meant to them. Here are their stories in their own words.

Meet Daphca Dulce

Q: How did you experience the competition?

A: It was such a great experience. My dream of winning came true! One of the first things the competition taught me was that reaching any goal requires hard work. When we saw the questions, we realized there was no other way—we had to study hard.

Q: What did you learn from the competition?

A: I learned so many things I didn’t know before. I was especially moved by Ruth’s words to Naomi:

“Where you go, I will go. Where you stay, I will stay. Your God will be my God.”

These words taught me to rely on God and trust Him in everything I do.

Q: What impact did the competition have on your classmates?

A: After the competition, many classmates congratulated us and told us they saw us as good examples to follow.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share?

A: I used to go to church, but I didn’t like to read my Bible. Now I have developed a love for reading and meditating on God’s Word. Thank you so much for this competition.

Meet Belandy Gressy Derosier

Q: How did you experience the competition?

A: It was a wonderful experience. Our classmates and many other students came to support us. I was so happy by their presence and by the warm welcome we received at Lavi Reyèl.  I hadn’t ever attended Lavi Reyel before the competition, but now I’m attending every Saturday.

Q: What did you learn from the competition?

A: I learned a lot, especially many new Bible verses I’d never read that strengthened my faith.

Q: How did this experience impact you personally?

A: I studied hard each week as I prepared for every Saturday’s competition. Reaching our team goal of winning and bringing our school its first trophy made me more confident in the person God made me to be.

Q: What impact did the competition have on other students?

A: They were happy and amazed at the same time. I never imagined I would inspire them so much. Now they see me and Daphca  as examples to follow—not only because of our abilities, but also because we are Christians.

The Greatest Victory

The Bible Competition challenged students to master 600 Bible questions and answers, but its greatest purpose reached far beyond the competition itself.

For Daphca, the greatest victory was discovering a genuine love for reading and meditating on God’s Word.

For Belandy, it was growing in confidence and becoming a Christlike example to her classmates.

These are the kinds of transformed lives your prayers and support make possible every week as CIDM reaches more than 4,500 students through Bible classes and weekly discipleship groups across Haiti.

Thank you for partnering with us as we equip Haiti’s next generation with the life-changing truth of God’s Word.

Would you prayerfully consider helping us reach even more students?
