Last year many students learned photography and videography, pursuing a life dream to learn a trade. These skills are very useful in Jacmel’s business sector.
“It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He enables me to stand on the heights.” 2 Samuel 22:33-34
Over 150 Haitian youth will excitedly fill our facility with hope and anticipation every Monday and Wednesday mornings during the 5 week day camp July 1st through August 3rd.
Why are they so excited? Because they will learn the following skills & vocations they’ve always wanted to learn but never had the opportunity. All classes are taught by paid professionals:
- Cosmetology Skills: Manicurist, including acrylic nails, women’s make up artistry, hair styling and up-dos. Haitian women will buy these services from our trained and professional students
- Screen Printing: printing on t-shirts without machines – widely used in Haiti for re-sale
- Macrame: creating sandals, purses, etc, These are essentials to sell to fellow Haitians
- Photography & Videography: especially requested from our deaf community, as this is a vocation they can do without hearing
- American Sign Language (ASL): Our hearing students desire to communicate more with our deaf students. Also, Jacmel has a school for deaf and handicapped. Knowing ASL, which the deaf are taught, creates job & ministry opportunities for hearing youth.
- Music Classes: Guitar, keyboard, saxophone and music theory are taught. Musical opportunities (professional and ministry) abound in Jacmel
Imagine with us for a moment: All the careers that will be launched from these important classes!
The total camp costs is about $3,500. This includes essential food, transportation & teachers for these eager youth. Ten days of spiritual and vocational substance, each day ending with bread, homemade peanut butter and juice.
The 11th day is a celebration, thanking God and corporately sharing personal testimonies for all they’ve learned. A full meal is served as they celebrate God’s goodness, and what’s been accomplished in His name.
Summer Blast begins at 8am every morning with the first hour of worship, applicable biblical teaching, prayer and reflection. “In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success”. Proverbs 3:6

Music classes: Guitar, keyboard, saxophone and music theory are diligently taught. I saw while living in Haiti – The musical giftings that God has poured out to Haitians is astounding. Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all you lands!” Psalm 100:1
Haitians love to celebrate (birthdays, graduations, weddings, baptisms, etc). During the past 2 years of Summer Blast, a Party Decoration class was taught to our students including balloon arches, pillars, flowers, wall drapings & more. Many students have been earning money from these life-changing skills.
Please join us in prayer for Summer Blast 2024 and the 150-175 youth who will attend over the next 5 weeks
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Through Christ, CIDM is equipping the youth to break the cycle of poverty.
