Since the assassination of Haiti’s President Jovenel Moise two years ago, gang violence, hyper-inflation and a hunger crisis in Haiti has spiraled downward, and it’s gravely affecting CIDM and the beloved Haitians within our reach. Daily now, people are knocking on our door at CIDM, desperately asking for food for themselves and their families and we are giving them food.
“Suppose a brother does not have any clothes or daily food and one of you tells them, ‘Go in peace! Stay warm and eat heartily.’ If you do not provide for their bodily needs, what good does it do? In the same way, faith by itself, if it does not prove itself with actions, is dead.” (James 2:15-17)
Feeding the starving has become our NEW NORMAL. We are now distributing over $1,000 monthly in rice, spaghetti, canned fish, and oil, in small family portions to meet some of the most desperate needs.
“A generous person will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” (Proverbs 22:9)
Recently, a young woman on our worship team at our Saturday Bible club didn’t even have the energy to stand and help lead worship because she was so hungry. Some youth who normally attend the Bible club couldn’t come due to hunger fatigue!
“Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give.” (Proverbs 21:26)
